Background

Juliana is a lawyer with more than 15 years of experience advising on cross-border transactions in the field of commercial and corporate law, focusing on intellectual and industrial property, media, telecommunications, technology, data protection, and competition law. She was a partner for more than 10 years at a boutique law firm in Brazil, representing top companies in the communications and telecom sector in Latin America, including the Globo group companies and the telecommunications company Claro (part of the América Móvil group).

Juliana has been involved in various international projects in the media industry as an in-house lawyer for the Globo group, advising the press, sales, financial, and audiovisual production teams and also forming part of the regulatory team.

Standing out for her extensive experience in multicultural environments, Juliana is authorised to practice law in Spain (as an EU lawyer), Brazil, and Portugal.
She has been a partner at Spencer West Spain (Madrid, Spain), an associate at BDAC (Madrid, Spain), a partner at San Tiago Dantas Quental Advogados Associados (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), and a lawyer at Globo Comunicação e Participações (São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil).

Combining her professional practice with academic work, Juliana is currently a doctoral student at the Complutense University of Madrid, researching the regulation of platforms in the EU, the US, and Brazil, and she holds a Master of Laws (LL.M) from the New York University School of Law. She has also taught law courses for the Master of International Business programme at EAE Business School since 2020.

  • Advice to musicians with a view to obtaining their copyright and related rights in the European Union.
  • Advice to Brazilian companies on merger and acquisition operations, with special emphasis on compliance with competition regulations.
